Bastion celebrates a Level 1 B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) status well ahead of plan

As an SME with big dreams, we are proud to announce that our strategic initiatives have paid off. Well ahead of plan, we are a Level 1 B-BBEE company for the first time in our history.

Bastion scored a total of 104.91 points in its latest assessment, with 26% black ownership and 20% black youth among the key statistics.

Bastion has earned its Level 1 B-BBEE status by accelerating a concerted transformation strategy which includes Ownership, Management control, Employment equity, Skills development, Preferential Procurement, Supplier Development, Enterprise development and Socio-economic development (corporate social investment initiatives).

Established on our values of agility, authenticity and working together; achieving the greatest level with the policy demonstrates Bastion’s commitment to strengthening equality and the growth of local business in South Africa.

Commenting on the occasion of achieving Level 1 B-BBEE status, Bastion CEO (Chief Executive Office) Benjamin Joannou, said: “We are delighted at this achievement. It demonstrates how serious we are about being part of the transformation of South Africa and all its people.”.

“This accomplishment comes at a time when our economy is faced with many challenges. Our business is rooted in our passion for empowerment. Empowering our people, our clients, our community, and our country’s youth. We have taken bold proactive steps in our strategy, policy, people, processes, and systems to move towards being an empowered organisation. Our level 1 BEE status is a clear demonstration of our commitment to our country and sharpens our competitive edge. We are serious about transforming the business from the bottom up and contributing to the development of our country. While we are proud of how far we have come, we are more committed than ever to maintaining our status”.
